Why Paradise Homeowners Choose CertainTeed Construction

Ellsworth Contractors provides independent CertainTeed construction repair and installation service across Paradise, Nevada. We work on CertainTeed roofing, siding, and gypsum systems every week, and we know exactly how this valley’s heat and monsoon cycles stress those products. Our CertainTeed work comes with honest repair-or-replace advice, because we answer to you, not to a manufacturer quota. That’s the difference when you call (888) 445-6077.

Call (888) 445-6077

CertainTeed has been making building products since 1904, and their roofing and siding lines are common on Paradise homes from the 1980s through today. But here’s what most owners don’t know: a CertainTeed product installed correctly for a mild climate can still fail early in Paradise if the installer didn’t account for 110°F heat cycling, UV intensity at 4,000 feet elevation, and the wind shear that comes with July-through-September microbursts. We see it constantly. Granule loss that should take 25 years showing up at year 12. Siding seams opening up because the original installer used a sealant rated for coastal humidity, not desert dry-heat expansion. Our crew diagnoses the real cause, not just the symptom, and we fix it so it stays fixed.

We’re an independent contractor. We are not affiliated with or authorized by CertainTeed. That independence is the point: we recommend what your home actually needs, whether that’s a targeted repair using OEM materials or a full replacement when it’s genuinely warranted.

Why Trust Ellsworth Contractors for Your CertainTeed Construction?

Reed Calloway grew up in the Whitney neighborhood of Paradise and has spent the better part of three decades watching this area change from scrubland into one of the busiest construction corridors in Nevada. He came up through the construction technology program at College of Southern Nevada and put in years on job sites before running his own crews. That background matters when you’re dealing with CertainTeed products, because diagnosing a Presidential Solaris granule-loss problem or a CertaPlank seam failure requires knowing how these materials behave after years of desert exposure, not just reading a spec sheet.

Our crews work with CertainTeed shingles, siding, and gypsum board regularly. We know the fastener patterns Presidential Solaris needs to survive a microburst. We know the sealant chemistry that keeps CertaPlank butt joints closed through a Paradise summer. We know what AirRenew drywall does in a bathroom with poor ventilation, and we know how to fix the underlying problem before re-taping joints. That’s the kind of CertainTeed-specific knowledge you don’t get from a general handyman.

We also stock CertainTeed OEM shingles, underlayment, and gypsum products locally for faster turnaround on repairs. When OEM isn’t available or doesn’t make financial sense, we source quality aftermarket components and we tell you which one we’re using and why. No mystery parts. No “trust us” pricing. Just a straight answer and a repair that holds.

Build it right the first time or you’ll be back explaining why you didn’t.

Common CertainTeed Construction Problems We Fix in Paradise

  • Presidential Solaris granule loss and edge curling. This is the big one we see on south-facing slopes in Paradise. Presidential Solaris is a heavyweight architectural shingle rated for long life, but the combination of 110°F surface temperatures and intense UV at 4,000 feet elevation accelerates oxidation. Granules loosen, the asphalt layer bakes, and the edges start to curl. By the time a homeowner notices granules in the gutter, the shingles are usually well into failure. We replace the affected slope or the full field, depending on how far it’s gone, and we upgrade the underlayment to a high-temperature rated product while we’re in there.
  • Landmark shingle nail pops and blow-offs after monsoon winds. Landmark is CertainTeed’s most common residential shingle line, and it performs fine in Paradise when installed with the right fastener count and pattern. But we regularly see roofs where the original installer used insufficient nails or placed them outside the nail line. Result: after a few microburst seasons, shingles lift, nails pop through the surface, and leaks follow. The fix is a proper re-fastening of the affected area or a full re-roof if the pattern is widespread.
  • CertaPlank composite siding moisture infiltration at butt joints. CertaPlank is a composite siding product, and if the installer didn’t back-seal each butt joint or used a sealant that can’t handle Paradise’s dry-heat expansion cycles, the seams open. Water gets behind the siding, the material swells, paint fails, and you get that telltale waviness along the lap lines. We remove and replace the damaged planks, then re-seal the remaining seams with a desert-rated sealant so the same failure doesn’t spread.
  • AirRenew gypsum board paper delamination in bathrooms and kitchens. AirRenew is CertainTeed’s moisture- and mold-resistant drywall, but poor ventilation in a Paradise bathroom during summer months pushes interior humidity to levels that overwhelm the paper facing. The paper delaminates, joint tape fails, and mold becomes a real concern. We fix the ventilation problem first, then replace the affected drywall and re-finish. If you just re-tape over delaminated paper, it fails again within a year.
  • Pipe boot and flashing failures on CertainTeed roofing systems. This one is less about the shingles and more about the roof system around them. Paradise’s heat cooks rubber pipe boots until they crack and split. Flashing at walls, valleys, and chimney bases takes the same abuse. We replace boots and flashing as part of nearly every CertainTeed roof repair we do because a leak at the boot is just as destructive as a shingle failure, and it’s the thing homeowners miss until the ceiling stains show up.

CertainTeed Parts & Our Repair-vs-Replace Approach

We use CertainTeed OEM shingles, siding, and gypsum products when they’re available and when the repair calls for them. OEM means the replacement matches the existing product’s weight, profile, density, and warranty chain. For Presidential Solaris or Landmark roofs that are still within a serviceable life span, using CertainTeed replacement shingles keeps the repair clean and keeps you out of a mixed-material situation that looks patchwork.

Sometimes OEM isn’t the right call. If CertainTeed has discontinued a color lot, or if the product is backordered for six weeks and you’re staring at a leaking ceiling, we source quality aftermarket components that match the performance spec. We’ll always tell you which path we’re taking and why. No silent substitutions.

Repair versus replace comes down to three things: the age of the system, the extent of the damage, and what the math says. A 12-year-old Presidential Solaris roof with granule loss on one slope is a repair candidate. That same roof with granule loss on every slope, curling edges, and a history of monsoon blow-offs is heading toward replacement. We’ll show you the numbers both ways and let you decide with full information. Call (888) 445-6077 and we’ll walk you through it.

Our CertainTeed Service Process – Step by Step

  1. 1
Diagnosis. We start with a physical inspection of the CertainTeed system in question, not a drive-by. For roofing, that means walking the roof, checking fastener integrity, inspecting flashing and boots, and documenting granule loss and curling with photos you can see. For siding, we check butt joints, sealant condition, and moisture readings. For drywall, we check ventilation and humidity levels first, because the drywall is usually the victim, not the cause.
  2. 2
Repair or install. Whether we’re re-fastening a Landmark roof, replacing a section of CertaPlank siding, or doing a full CertainTeed Presidential Solaris re-roof, we prepare the substrate properly. That means decking inspection, high-temperature underlayment for Paradise conditions, enhanced fastener patterns for monsoon wind zones, and sealants rated for desert heat cycling.
  3. 3
Test. After the repair or install, we run a water test on any area that was leaking or is prone to leaks. We check for proper drainage, sealed penetrations, and clean laps. On siding and drywall work, we verify that ventilation and moisture levels are within range before we call the job done.
  4. 4
Warranty. We stand behind our workmanship with a written warranty. CertainTeed’s product warranty covers the materials; our workmanship warranty covers the labor. We explain both clearly so you know who covers what if something goes wrong down the line.

CertainTeed Products We Service & Install in Paradise

We service and install the CertainTeed product lines most common on Paradise homes: Presidential Solaris and Landmark asphalt shingle roofing, CertaPlank composite siding, and AirRenew moisture-resistant gypsum board for bathrooms and kitchens. We also handle the full systems around those products: underlayment, flashing, ridge caps, pipe boots, sealants, and ventilation components that determine whether a CertainTeed product actually performs in this climate. We stock common CertainTeed shingle colors and gypsum board locally in Paradise for faster repair turnaround, and we can order full roof or siding packages with a lead time that’s usually under a week for standard products.

We Also Service These Brands

CertainTeed isn’t the only brand we work with, and that’s a good thing. We service and install KraftMaid cabinetry, Cambria and Silestone countertops, and Kohler plumbing fixtures across Paradise. When your project spans roofing and a kitchen remodel, you’re not juggling four contractors. One call covers it. That multi-brand depth means we recommend CertainTeed when it’s genuinely the right fit for your project, not because it’s the only option we carry.
